General Description:
Being a proactive member of a vibrant and dynamic Design Office, you will possess a strong underlying technical ability together with a comprehensive understanding of manufacturing processes and procedures common in automotive and marine industry sectors. These skills will enable you to contribute to the design and development of products on a project driven basis and provide support to a busy assembly line operation.

 

A “hands – on” approach to problem solving and a practical engineering background will enable you to identify and become involved with product/production line improvements.

Main Duties:

  • Design of engineering assemblies combining mechanical and electrical installations along with GRP and other moulded materials.
  • Assist with new development projects as instructed by management.
  • Provide technical support to production and sales departments.
  • Liaise on technical matters with component suppliers.
  • Produce, maintain and manage technical assembly and manufacturing drawings.
  • Assist management in decisions relating to design and development.
  • Involvement in product on-water testing.
  • Assist in the building and testing of prototypes from concept to pre-production stage.
  • Production and control of BOM’s.

 

Ancillary Duties:
To carry out such tasks and duties as may be required from time to time by senior management.

 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Formal education, preferably to degree level, with at least five years’ experience in a Design Engineer role.
  • Advanced skills in 3D CAD environment (NX preferable), with strong understanding of component & assembly models, and creating & issuing of technical drawings.
  • Advanced skills solving engineering challenges with innovative solutions.
  • Experience of mechanical systems, including drivetrains.
  • Experience of fabricated components in steel, aluminium & plastic(s).
  • Understanding of moulded components and the associated tooling. Ability to produce laminate schedules is an advantage.
  • Understanding of fluid circuits and/or electrical systems is an advantage.
  • Familiarisation with Marine Industry is an advantage but not essential.
