We’re passionate about the coast. That’s why we love discovering great places around Europe to see beautiful sunsets. From the most prestigious marinas and yacht clubs, to hidden gems and forgotten coves, if you can capture the sunset there, we’re on a hunt to find it.

In the second edition of our Sunset Hunter series, we’re venturing to the north east of Mallorca to explore the colourful and vibrant coastal resort, Puerto Pollensa. Situated on the Bay of Pollensa, this beautiful seaside sanctuary is best known for its sandy beaches and bustling bars and restaurants, making it the perfect destination to drop anchor for the weekend.

A luxury yacht sails on blue waters with a mountainous coastline in the background.

Start your littoral adventure in Puerto Pollensa’s stunning marina, surrounded by the spectacular Tramunta mountain range. This 2,500-square foot waterfront destination offers the ultimate stop-off to moor your yacht, before continuing your exploration on-board your tender.

Dart over to the nearby beach to drop anchor for the morning, where you’ll find a wide range of family-fun watersports available on shore. Rent a kayak, pedalo, paddleboard, or even just opt for a refreshing swim in the bay’s crystal clear, turquoise blue waters.

Back on land, you and the family can explore the port’s artisan craft shops, ceramic stores and fresh food markets. Originally an old fishing village, you’ll find plenty of ancient buildings to wander around before heading up through the Tramuntana valleys to experience more of what Mallorca offers.

A picturesque bay surrounded by lush greenery and mountains, with boats scattered across the water.

Step up the pace and challenge yourself to an afternoon hike. The mountains offer the perfect place to embark on a thigh-bursting climb, while taking in the island’s stunning vistas. Or, if you’d prefer something a little more relaxed, the scenic Pine Walk is an ultimate setting for a gentle midday stroll, located on the other side of the main beach.

A coastal restaurant overlooks a bay with sailboats, clear waters, and a distant hillside.

Before the sun begins to set over the bay, hop aboard your tender and get up close and personal with some of Puerto Pollensa’s underwater wildlife. Snorkel along the rocks off the coastline near to the marina, and catch a glimpse of the colourful fish and corals. Or alternatively head north out of the marina entrance towards the La Fortazleza estate to enjoy views of the amazing sculpted gardens from this popular anchorage. Constructed in 1622, La Fortaleza was originally built to protect Pollenca from marauding Berber and Turkish pirates, its now best known for featuring in the BBC’s ‘Night Manager’ series shown in 2016.

As the sun sinks below the sea, and the sky turns to hues of orange, pink and red, now’s the time to drive your tender back to the marina to unwind. Spend your evening in one of the marina’s first class restaurants, while looking out to the incredible views – completing your day with glorious Mallorcan sunset.
