General Description:

Working with the purchasing team to ensure all direct and indirect materials are available on time and purchased at the most cost-effective price. Ensure your allocated suppliers are performing to agreed KPI.

 

Main Duties:

  • Sourcing and placement of orders for contract and non-contract items. Using appropriate MRP reports and manual requisitions.
  • Negotiation lower pricing whenever possible.
  • Maintenance of Supplier details on the MRP system and review of supplier performance.
  • Responsible for monitoring supplier performance and developing improvement programmes.
  • Maintenance of minimum stock levels against MRP requirements.
  • Adjust component MRP parameters to achieve on time availability and appropriate batch sizes.
  • Progress chasing outstanding PO’s in liaison with Production Control.
  • Assist Stores personnel when required including stocktaking etc.
  • Assist Production Control when required to progress work through the factory.
  • Assist in other areas of the Company as required against reasonable requests.

 

Ancillary Duties:

To carry out such tasks and duties as may be required from time to time by Senior Management.

 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A qualification in Purchasing (CIPS) Desirable but not essential.
  • If you don’t possess a CIPS qualification, would you have a willingness to obtain one that may include out of hours or distance learning?
  • 3 years’ experience using MRP/ERP/SAP or similar and are you competent in its use for placing and reviewing Purchase Orders and updating parts and supplier or customer data?
  • Experienced in supplier or customer management.
  • Demonstrate a competency in the use of MS Office Suite, including Excel, Word & Outlook?
  • Experience of working in a manufacturing environment (a marine manufacturing business would be an advantage).
  • Possess a good level of Maths and English – Preferably 5 above in GCSE Maths & English or equivalent.
  • Demonstrate a professional and entrepreneurial attitude to purchasing.
  • Possess excellent communication and assertiveness skills

  • Self-motivated and able to multi-task
  • Demonstrate the ability to work under pressure to meet multiple project deadlines.
