Job Title: Stores Assistant  

Location: Berinsfield

Hours: 40 hours per week, 8.00am to 4.30pm

Reports to: Stores Manager


3.0  Responsible For:

The effective storage, control and housekeeping of the company’s raw material and component stock.


4.0 General Description:           

The Stores Assistant reports to the Stores Manager and is responsible for the maintenance of stock within his/her area of responsibility.  The appointee is also responsible for all stock being held in a usable state and general housekeeping.

5.0 Main Duties:

Assist in the management of the raw material Stores to ensure:

Proper location and storage of incoming material.

Timely issue and kitting of materials to the production in line with production schedules.

The continuous audit of all stock by periodic cycle counting.

Responsible for the security, control, and movement of raw material stock.

Is involved with the annual stock take to ensure that a smooth and satisfactory count takes place.

Ensures strict adherence and implementation of FIFO. Paying particular attention to the product life cycle by rotation of mouldings, engines, adhesives and general consumable products.

Deputise for the Goods Inwards Inspector in his/her absence as required.

Undertakes problem solving and other tasks as directed by the Stores Manager.

Operates in accordance with the company’s Health and Safety procedure, and other related company policies.


6.0 Ancillary Duties:

To carry out such tasks and duties as may be required from time to time by senior management in accordance with the companies operating procedures and policies.

Strict adherence and implementation of the health and safety at works act is an essential part of the post. A close working relationship with other members of staff, particularly those in the Production department is essential to ensure customer satisfaction is met.


7.0 Level of Accountability:

The appointee is responsible for the storage and accuracy of stock within his/her designated area of responsibility.


8.0 Qualifications and Experience

The appointee must be computer literate.

To have the ability to communicate at all levels within the organisation.

The appointee will be educated to a good standard, with English and Mathematics GCSE.

The candidate must have experience of stockroom and despatch procedures, preferably gained in a manufacturing environment.

He/she must be of good health and be able to lift weights up to the maximum limit as defined by the Health & Safety Executive.
