1.0       Job Title:                    STORES MANAGER

2.0       Responsible To:       Supply Chain Director

3.0       General Description:           

The Stores Manager reports to the Purchasing Director and is responsible for the timely receipt, issue and management of materials in support of Production targets. The appointee is also responsible for all stock being held in a usable and secure state adopting good housekeeping practises.

4.0       Responsible For:      The Companies Goods Inwards and Stores functions including the stock control of raw materials

5.0        Main Duties:

Manages the Goods inwards, Stores and Stock Control functions to ensure:

Responsible for the accurate receipt of raw materials and finished products, including quantity and quality. In the event of rejects, liaison with the company’s vendors and produce the relevant documentation.

  • Proper location and storage of all incoming material and finished products.
  • Responsible for the preparation, accuracy and issue of kits to the production line in support of the Production Schedule.
  • The continuous audit of all stock by periodic cycle counting.
  • Responsible for the timely despatch of Aftersales components and added value products.
  • Maintain raw material stores and goods inwards/despatch area in a clean and tidy state.
  • Highlight any stock irregularities including slow moving / obsolescence to the Purchasing Director.
  • Responsible for materials handling equipment within the Stores performing regular checks.
  • Responsible for the security of goods inwards and stores.
  • Manage the company’s annual stock take to ensure that a smooth and satisfactory count takes place.
  • Liaise and meet with the Production Manager in attainment of Production Targets.
  • Undertakes problem solving and other tasks as directed by the Purchasing Director.
  • Assists in the planning of the company’s storage facilities for the current and future needs of the business.
  • Trains staff when necessary.
  • Ensures strict adherence and implementation of FIFO. Paying particular attention to the product life cycle by rotation of battery products, adhesives and general consumable.
  • Operates in accordance with the company’s Health and Safety procedure, and other related company policies.
  • Responsible for the management and welfare of all reporting staff include engagement, discipline and appraising.
  • Attendance of meetings as and when required.

6.0       Ancillary Duties:

To carry out such tasks and duties as may be required from time to time by senior management in accordance with the companies operating procedures and policies.

Strict adherence and implementation of the health and safety at works act is an essential part of the post. A close working relationship with other members of staff, particularly those in the Production department is essential to ensure customer satisfaction is met.

7.0       Level of Accountability:     

The appointee is responsible for the management, storage and accuracy of all stock.

8.0       Qualifications and Experience

The appointee must be computer literate and be able to use Excel, Word, etc with experience of using a MRP/ERP system advantageous and have the ability to communicate at all levels within the organisation.  Educated to GCSE standard in English and Maths

Good level of spoken English

The candidate must have experience of stockroom procedures, preferably gained in a manufacturing environment.

Individuals must be of good health and be able to lift weights up to the maximum limit as defined by the Health & Safety Executive.
