Junior Designer

General Description:        

Being a proactive member of a small development department, you will possess a strong underlying understanding of design, materials, surfacing and ergonomics, together with a comprehension of manufacturing processes and procedures common in automotive and Marine industry sectors. These skills will enable you to contribute to the design and development of products on a project driven basis and provide support to a busy assembly line operation.

A “hands – on” approach to problem solving will enable you to identify and become involved with product development and/or production line improvements.

 Responsible For:  

The design, development and general technical support of Williams Performance Tenders products, in accordance with Williams’ quality standards and such tasks as may be requested by management to meet the company’s development strategy.

 

Main Duties:

  •  Assist development projects as instructed by management.
  • Provide technical support to production and sales departments.
  • Liaise on technical matters with component suppliers.
  • Produce, maintain and manage technical assembly and manufacturing drawings.
  • Involvement in product on-water testing.
  • Assist in the building and testing of prototypes from concept to pre-production stage.
  • Production and control of Bill of Materials (BOM’s).

 

Ancillary Duties:

To carry out such tasks and duties as may be required from time to time by senior management.

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • Formal vehicle or product design education to Degree level.
  • Ability to generate and communicate concept ideas through hand sketches.
  • 3D CAD literate (preferably Solidworks / NX but not essential) + MS office & Adobe suites.
  • Understanding of general engineering and electrical systems an advantage.
  • Understanding of a wide range of manufacturing processes common to automotive and marine industries.
  • Familiarisation with various moulding techniques / laminate schedules is an advantage.
